About: The Story Behind the work

Educator, technology integration specialist, and lifelong learner based in Minneapolis, MN.

A bit about me

With over 20 years in education across K-12 classrooms, district-level technology integration, and higher education, I've dedicated my career to one idea: technology works best when it disappears into great teaching.

I'm a Google Certified Trainer, Magic School AI Certified Trainer, and lifelong learner who believes that when educators feel confident with technology, students thrive. Whether I'm coaching a classroom teacher, leading professional development, or designing curriculum at the college level, my focus is always the same: making learning better for every student in every room.

My philosophy

Outstanding teaching starts with relationships. Every learner, no matter what level, needs to feel seen, heard, and respected before real learning can happen. Trust is the foundation on which everything else is built.

Engagement over delivery. Students should be doing the thinking, not just receiving it. Questions, inquiry, collaboration, and projects beat passive reception every time.

Outstanding teachers expand how learners demonstrate understanding. With iPads, Chromebooks, podcasting tools, and digital portfolios available, asking for a paragraph is a missed opportunity.

And finally, passion and content knowledge matter deeply. When teachers make authentic connections between their subject and the real world, learners feel it. Enthusiasm is contagious.
