District-Wide Technology Integration

As a Technology Integration TOSA at Minneapolis Public Schools, I led district-wide technology integration across 60+ schools, serving 5,000 staff and 29,000 students. I designed and delivered professional development, built Technology Integration Kits with lesson plans and training, and partnered with teachers and leaders at every level to make technology work in real classrooms, not just in theory.

iPads Chromebooks Arts Department 90 min
Stop Motion Animation
A 90-minute session in collaboration with the Arts Department at Minneapolis Public Schools. We explored what stop-motion animation is, spent time working with the app on both iPads and Chromebooks, and then teachers had time to create their own animations. The session ended with a gallery walk and all videos and the presentation were shared department-wide.

Podcasting Hmong International Academy 4-Session Series
Podcasting Tools for Hmong International Academy
This session was the result of three prior 1-hour PD sessions and led to several teachers creating podcast-inspired student projects. Teachers used tools like Vocaroo and Adobe to have students record stories, project descriptions, and interviews for the school's technology showcase night. A real example of PD that lives past the session.

Things I Built

Accessibility Google Slides ASD Mote
Sound and Number Board
Created after talking to an ASD teacher who needed a simple way for a student to hear letters and numbers. Built in Google Slides using the Mote extension and AI. A small tool that made a real difference for one student and an example of technology solving a real, specific problem in a real classroom.

Staff Resource Team Project Spring
Spring into Spring Break
I brought this idea to the Technology Integration Team during my first year. Each year after, we collaborated to create a resource board of tools we found useful, fun, or engaging for education. Published 10 days before spring break for staff who want to explore new things. A small tradition that teachers looked forward to every year.

Technology Integration Kits
As a classroom teacher, I was often frustrated by the lack of technology hardware available. Once I was in a position to effect change, I pitched the idea of Technology Integration Kits to the TIS team. Each kit comes with hardware, lesson plans, instructions, and a technology integrationist ready to provide training and co-teaching. Teachers used them to create 9th grade podcasting summative projects, oak tree lifecycle projects in Spanish with Ozobots, and more.

MPS Tech Diaries Blog
Our team collaborated on a blog available to anyone in the district. I wrote a monthly post focused on anything relevant to technology integration — new tools, classroom ideas, PD recaps, and more. Writing regularly kept me sharp, connected me with staff across the district, and built a public record of our team's work.

How I think about K-12 instruction

🤝 Relationships first. Every learner needs to feel seen, heard, and respected before real learning can happen.

💡 Engagement over delivery. Students should be doing the thinking, not just receiving it.

🎨 Choice in how students show learning. With iPads, Chromebooks, and digital tools available, asking for a paragraph is a missed opportunity.

❤️ Passion is visible. When teachers make authentic connections between their subject and the real world, students feel it.
